The expectations of office space will supposedly involve great networking within multiple purposes and sharing spaces. The future office will reform the conventional boundaries among people and develop their performances. Spaces are recently built to support closer engagement to pull off definite effects. However, opting for future environments of workspace between open space and private office is debatable. Speaking of communal workspace, the interaction is one of the valuable aspects when achieving goals. At times, work flow, exploration, and engagement between like-minded people are more essential than personal creativeness and efficiency. Some would argue that the increase of engagement outside of private office will also drop the individual productivity. In spite of the productivity drop, open space can give a positive effect on the performance of the group. The majority of performance evaluations are derived from personal productivity, which leads to this next implication. Group productivity can actually develop through more engagement, but some don’t take this into consideration. What’s more, the invested money for increasing personal productivity is better to be spent on a workplace that encourages interactions. This surely allows both the group and individuals to become more successful. On the other hand, people prefer to work in a more private space. The closed environment provides utmost privacy when dealing with important reports, telephone calls, and sensitive materials. The private office allows you to reduce distractions during the day, as others are likely to keep away from your space. You will be able to keep the productivity high, particularly if working on tasks that need concentration. But there’s an issue in that aspect, which is the decrease of interaction. When engaging with the same group on a daily basis, you miss the chance to learn ideas from other people. Many keep struggling with it, but the solution is uncomplicated. Simply use flexible spaces where workspaces can be both closed and open. This will balance out the environment to be able to choose between collaboration and privacy.
